Is there a secret continuum between a cat video on YouTube and the darkest depths of a neo-Nazi forum? The play Chroniques d’une exploratrice (Chronicles of an Explorer) surveys the new narratives emerging and growing online, to examine how these phenomena lead to a fragmented view of the world.

Hidden behind user names, theater director Alice Gozlan and creative partner Zacharie Lorent traverse the algorithmic bubbles and forums that dot the vast continent of the web. Using an entertaining set-up, Gozlan recounts and replays her discoveries – at turns funny, absurd or horrifying – reconstructs her explorations, and attempts to pinpoint what can still be called “real” in our utterly online age.

Chronique d’une exploratrice is a journey into the materiality of the web. In a place full of fabrications, the emotions felt are actually very real. What happens to users navigating the seas of this virtual dimension with very real consequences?
