I am a Mountain 

As part of the closing weekend of the Némo Biennial

Experienced while hanging and horizontal, Je suis une montagne – I am a Mountain – elicits unexpected sensory emotions that take us well outside the bounds of reality. A few of the questions that come to mind during this journey: am I a mountain, am I still myself, am I traveling to the great beyond? 

Lying on a deck chair, eyes closed, the audience is wrapped in a hanging cocoon between heaven and earth, where they feel the wind, the desert heat, the warm light, and the beckoning dawn. This intense experience of the present redefines one’s relationship with space, the elements, and oneself. 

Blending art, science and technology, Éric Arnal-Burtschy’s immersive projects travel to the four corners of the world and awaken the senses. In this third chapter in a trilogy on humans’ relationship with Nature and the Universe, the artist invites us to approach the question on a new spatiotemporal scale. 

The closing weekend of the 2025 Némo Biennial, titled Out of Time, explores time as the raw material of every utopia. At the heart of three shows and performances, past and future intertwine through digital arts, transformed into a living link between heritage and the technological age.
