#show & performance

Obvious and Théâtre Molière at Sorbonne Université

As part of Out of Time, the closing weekend of the Némo Biennial.
Performance followed by a talk on the relationship between artistic creation and artificial intelligence, featuring the Obvious collective and experts.

L’Astrologue ou les Faux Présages – The Astrologer or the False Omens – is an original play co-written by artificial intelligence and Molière specialists, which explores that past and technological future of artistic creation. A preview excerpt will be performed at Biennale Némo, followed by a discussion.

This one-act play emerged from a novel collaboration between Obvious, a collective of artists who work with artificial intelligence, and Théâtre Molière at Sorbonne Université. Using historical data and Molière’s writing process, leading specialists worked to produce a work that mirrored the playwright’s style, entirely written by AI.

Imagining what Molière might have written had he lived beyond 1673, the play focuses on astrology, a theme that he touched on without ever making it the crux of a work. This subject, reinterpreted by the algorithms, echoes current concerns about information bias and how we choose what to believe today’s digital world.

The performance will be followed by a discussion on the link between artistic creation and artificial intelligence with the Obvious collective and Molière specialists. (The play will be performed in its entirety for the first time at the Royal Opera of Versailles in May 2026.)

The closing weekend of the 2025 Némo Biennial, titled Out of Time, explores time as the raw material of every utopia. At the heart of three shows and performances, past and future intertwine through digital arts, transformed into a living link between heritage and the technological age.
