We Will Return in the Spring 

Theater director Simón Adinia Hanukai revisits Chekhov’s The Cherry Orchard in an immersive performance spanning theater, movement, music, media, and interaction. Audiences discover a storybook setting, but one where everything could unravel at any moment. 

Immersive technology takes audiences inside the play, where they can explore the world around them. Deeper down, beneath the pristine beauty of the cherry blossoms, they find out what is poisoning the now-barren cherry orchard. This thoroughly modern adaptation of the play takes on a dream-like dimension that transports us into the characters’ subconscious. 

We Will Return in the Spring retains the essence of the questions raised by writer and playwright Anton Chekhov – social instability, love amidst chaos, the search for one’s place in a confused world – at a turning point for Russian society, which are cast here in a 21st century light.
