No reality now

No reality now is a window into the possibilities at the intersection of performing arts and new immersive technologies, namely virtual and augmented reality. A new horizon for artists and audiences interested in other creative dimensions.

Choreographer Vincent Dupont partnered with Charles Ayats, a designer of immersive experiences, to reactivate a previous piece (Souffles) for No reality now, a funeral ritual for the departed with the arrival of apparitions. Seizing on complementary elements from virtual reality and the performing arts, the two artists not only augment the original 2010 work, but also create two simultaneous versions through which the audience can move about freely, wearing a virtual-reality headset that they can remove and put back on at their leisure.

This digital world extends the field of perception of a great mystery – death and the passage to the beyond – through unfamiliar sensations, clouding the vision and lending material form to the invisible presence of sounds and breathing.
